Digital Identity. For all.
New Consortium for Digital Identity led by Mvine gaining support
Mvine Ltd announces today the new consortium for digital identity led by Mvine is calling for “Digital Identity. For All”.
Launched in May 2018, the consortium brings together Identity Providers, Attribute Providers and Service Providers with an interest in digital identity services which are ubiquitous, compliant with Government identity assurance and truly interoperable for users.
Frank Joshi, Director at Mvine, said, “Everybody should have the right to a digital identity. We want to eliminate any situation occurring where the haves and the have nots is deemed to be okay. It’s not acceptable that people are excluded from benefitting from digital identity. The tech industry itself, together with public, private and third sector organisations need to convene to bring about digital identity for all.”
“The consortium approach assures that market players will be collaborative, not use dominant positions to curry favour because that will only damage trust, prevent progress and frustrate users.”
The consortium business model engenders wide support, including from Don Thibeau, co-chairman of the Open Identity Exchange UK (OIX UK) who said: “Open Identity Exchange has gone on record about the cost of doing nothing. Progressive action is now needed and for that reason I’m enthusiastic about what a consortium can deliver and am happy to encourage its development.”
The announcement coincides with Think Digital Identity for Government conference, which opens on Thursday, 29th November, at One Great George Street, Westminster.
