The UK is considering COVID-19 vaccine certificates for international travel, similar to yellow fever cards. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps confirmed ongoing discussions with various governments and international bodies, but warned it's too early to book holidays due to uncertainties around the virus and vaccination rollouts. He stressed that the term “vaccine passport” is avoided to prevent confusion and assured that obtaining a certificate won’t be mandatory for domestic travel or government services. The IATA is working on a digital travel pass, while the WHO emphasizes fair vaccine access globally.
